According to the Balochistan Human Rights Group, on Tuesday, December 24, 2024, a Baloch prisoner named Abdullah Narouyi, 35 years old, married with two children, was transferred to solitary confinement in Gonabad Prison by prison authorities for the execution of his death sentence. Abdullah had previously been convicted on drug-related charges.

Abdullah was arrested in Gonabad County in 2020 and sentenced to death by the Revolutionary Court of the same county. On Tuesday afternoon, he was moved from the general ward to solitary confinement in preparation for the execution of his sentence.

Reports indicate that prison officials contacted Abdullah’s family, asking them to visit the prison for a final visit.

It is noteworthy that in 2023, at least 184 Baloch prisoners were executed in 26 cities across Iran. The prisons of Zahedan, with 54 executions, and Birjand, with 31, recorded the highest numbers. Among those executed were at least four women.
