These Baloch citizens were executed under circumstances that have raised widespread reports of violations of fair trial principles in their cases. Baloch prisoners, including those executed today, are often denied access to independent lawyers, and the judicial process lacks transparency.
According to reports, at least 184 Baloch citizens were executed across 26 cities in Iran in 2023. Zahedan Prison accounted for 54 of these executions, followed by Birjand Prison with 31 cases. Among those executed, at least four were women.
The mass execution of Baloch citizens, coupled with the economic, social, and political marginalization imposed on this community, is a blatant violation of fundamental human rights and human dignity.
