On Wednesday, December 11, 2024, a collision and subsequent fire involving two fuel-carrying pickup trucks on the Saravan-Kouhak route resulted in four deaths and one injury.

The identities of the deceased are as follows:

  • Eman Mollazehi, 19, from the village of Deridar
  • Hadi Vakili, 19
  • Azim Vakili, 11
  • Mohammad Moshayekhi, 12
    The latter three were residents of Kouhak village. The identity of the injured individual remains unknown.

The accident occurred near the Kalagan junction, and the victims were reportedly close friends and relatives.

According to an annual report, at least 321 fuel carriers were killed or injured in various incidents between January and December 2023. Of these:

  • 28 were killed, and 17 injured in direct shootings by military forces.
  • 194 lost their lives, and 58 were injured in road accidents.
  • 8 were killed, and 2 injured in shootings by unknown armed individuals.
  • At least 14 were killed or injured in incidents such as floods, fires at fuel storage sites, and other unspecified events.
