On Monday, December 9, 2024, a 5-year-old Baloch child named Dordang Razavi Moghaddam, son of Yaser and a resident of Chabahar, was injured in the leg by a bullet following an unlawful and indiscriminate shooting by military forces during a car chase in Chabahar city.
The incident occurred when Dordang and his father went to a grocery store on Sayad Street near the Chabahar governor’s office to buy ice cream. As they exited the store, military forces, chasing a Toyota Land Cruiser, opened fire unlawfully, leading to the child being struck in the leg.
On Tuesday, December 10, surgery was performed to remove the bullet from the child’s leg, and his general condition has been reported as stable.
According to Article 3 of the Law on the Use of Weapons by Armed Forces Personnel, the use of firearms is only permitted in specific circumstances. However, in Balochistan, indiscriminate shootings by armed forces frequently occur, resulting in injuries and fatalities among civilians.
Reports from 2023 indicate that direct shootings by military forces have caused the death or injury of at least 120 Baloch citizens. Among these, 80 lost their lives, and 40 were injured, including 9 children and 3 women.
