Today, Sunday, December 8, 2024, at least one Baloch prisoner held in Birjand Prison, who had been transferred to the quarantine section of the prison on December 7 to await execution, was executed by judicial and prison authorities without being granted a final meeting with his family.
The identity of the executed prisoner has been reported as Abdolghafour Razmdideh Rigi, a 45-year-old father of four from Zahedan.
Abdolghafour was arrested by security forces in 2022 in the Sarbisheh area and transferred to Birjand. He was sentenced to death by the Revolutionary Court of this city, and the sentence was carried out on Sunday without allowing a final meeting with his family.
Reports indicate that in 2023, at least 184 Baloch prisoners were executed in 26 cities across Iran. Among these cases, Zahedan Prison, with 54 executions, and Birjand Prison, with 31, recorded the highest numbers of executions. Additionally, at least four women were among those executed.
