At dawn on Wednesday, November 27, 2024, Reza Shirzai (Narouei), a 24-year-old Baloch prisoner from Zabol, was executed in Ghezel Hesar Prison, Karaj. He was arrested in 2020 following a group altercation at a wedding, during which a friend was fatally stabbed. Reza was convicted of murder and sentenced to death despite repeatedly declaring his innocence in court.
In 2023, at least 184 Baloch prisoners were executed across various cities in Iran, with Zahedan and Birjand prisons reporting the highest numbers of executions.
