At dawn on Saturday, November 30, 2024, the execution of at least one Baloch prisoner, who had previously been sentenced to Qisas (retribution) for murder, was carried out in Zahedan Central Prison.

The identity of the prisoner has been revealed as “Ahmad Shahbakhsh (Khanishini),” 33 years old, son of Isa, married, and father of two children. Ahmad was arrested in early 2019 on murder charges in Zahedan and sentenced to death by the criminal court of this city. On Thursday, November28, he was transferred to solitary confinement and on Friday, November 29, had his final meeting with his family.

In 2023, at least 184 Baloch prisoners were executed on various charges in 26 cities across Iran. Among these, Zahedan and Birjand prisons recorded the highest number of executions, with at least four women among those executed.
