On November 28, 2024, Elyas Narouei, a 37-year-old resident of Shamsabad in Bambur, visited Police Station 11 to follow up on his confiscated car documents. While there, he was reportedly harassed by officers. In reaction, he attempted to take a handgun from one of the officers. However, he was stopped, taken to the station’s yard, and shot dead by security forces.
The military forces claimed that Elyas attacked the station armed and held officers hostage. However, reports confirm that he was unarmed when entering the station, and this narrative appears to have been fabricated to justify the killing.
The contradictory statements by the forces and their alleged attempt to stage the scene have raised public anger and doubts Reports suggest that the officer’s abusive behavior and mental pressure pushed Elyas into a critical state, leading to the incident.
