In the early hours of *Friday, November 22, 2024, municipal forces, accompanied by military personnel, raided the *Muradabad area of Chabahar and demolished several residential houses without prior notice or warning to the residents. According to reports, this operation was conducted without adherence to legal procedures, forcing some families to evacuate their homes in the middle of the night.

During the demolitions, some houses were still inhabited, causing significant distress to the residents who were abruptly displaced.

Demolitions Under the Makran Coastal Development Plan

These actions are part of the so-called *”Makran Coastal Development Plan”, which involves the displacement of non-native populations and the construction of new settlements in **Baloch-inhabited regions. Statistics indicate that in 2023 alone, at least *21 cases of house demolitions and land seizures occurred across five cities in the region, with the majority reported in Chabahar and Zahedan.

Violation of Constitutional Rights

The operations conducted are a blatant violation of the Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Iran, specifically:

  • Article 31: This article guarantees the right to adequate housing for all citizens.
  • Article 22: It prohibits any infringement on individuals’ homes, except in cases explicitly authorized by law.
