At dawn on Tuesday, November 5, 2024, the death sentences of at least three Baloch prisoners, who had previously been convicted on charges related to drug offenses and murder, were carried out in Yazd prison by the prison authorities.
One of the Baloch prisoners has been identified as Mohsen Nezhadi Moghadam (Sabaki), 30 years old, son of Hossein, married, with two children, and a resident of Rigan. The identities of the other two Baloch prisoners, who were also convicted on drug-related charges and murder, remain unknown at the time of reporting.
According to this report, Mohsen was arrested in 2021 in Yazd on drug-related charges and was sentenced to death by the Revolutionary Court of the city. On the morning of Sunday, November 3, he, along with two other prisoners, was transferred from the general ward to solitary confinement in preparation for the execution.
It is noteworthy that in 2023, at least 184 Baloch prisoners were executed across 26 cities in Iran, with Zahedan and Birjand prisons having the highest numbers of executions at 54 and 31 cases, respectively. Among these executed prisoners, at least four were women.
