On the morning of Monday, October 21, 2024, the execution of a Baloch prisoner who had been imprisoned in Kahnuj Prison for about eight years and was recently transferred to Jiroft was carried out. The prisoner had been moved to solitary confinement the previous day in preparation for his execution.
The identity of the prisoner has been reported as “Hamid (Mahmoud) Chatresimabeh (Sabaki),” approximately 40 years old, son of Abbas, and a resident of Zahkalout.
According to reports, Hamid, along with “Mahmoud Bamari (Sabaki),” who was executed in Kahnuj Prison on October 17, 2024, turned himself in to the judiciary about eight years ago, charged with the involvement in a conflict and the killing of a military officer named “Sajjad Jorjandi.”
Although the victim’s family had previously accepted a sum of money as blood money from Hamid’s relatives and his co-defendant, the executions of Mahmoud and Hamid were still carried out.
On August 12, 2024, the parents of “Sajjad Jorjandi” had attended a session in the first branch of the Criminal Enforcement Office of Rudbar-e Jonub Prosecutor’s Office, where they announced their “unconditional consent and request to close the case” for the two defendants (Mahmoud Bamari Rad [Sabaki] and Hamid Chatresimabeh).
It was also reported that Jiroft Prison officials asked the prisoner’s family to come for a final visit before the execution.
It is worth noting that in 2023, at least 184 Baloch prisoners were executed in 26 different cities across Iran, with Zahedan and Birjand prisons carrying out the highest numbers—54 and 31 executions, respectively. Among the executed prisoners were at least four women.
