On the morning of Monday, September 9, 2024, a Baloch fuel carrier, identified as Abdulhamid Shahnavazi, approximately 34 years old, son of Khodanazar, and a resident of Khash, was shot and killed by Iranian border guards in the Rutek border area, located in Poshtkouh district of Khash County. The shooting occurred without any prior warning or order to stop, and Abdulhamid succumbed to his injuries.
According to reports, at around 4:00 a.m., the border guards in Rutek set up an ambush along the route commonly used by fuel carriers. They opened fire on Abdulhamid’s Toyota pickup truck without prior warning, hitting him in the head. Abdulhamid died on the spot, and his body was removed from the vehicle by the border guards and abandoned in Pakistani territory.
Following the family’s pursuit and discussions with Pakistani military authorities, Abdulhamid’s body was retrieved and transferred to Iran, where it was handed over to the forensic office in Saravan.
Reports suggest that the abandonment of Abdulhamid’s body in Pakistan was an attempt by the border guards to deny responsibility for his death.
