UN Experts Express Concern: Over 400 Executions Reported This Year
Human Rights Group Balochistan/ On Monday, September 2, 2024, UN experts expressed concern over the increase in executions in Iran in the past month and called on the Iranian government to immediately halt the executions of those facing such penalties.
In a statement released by these experts, it was reported that at least 81 people were executed in August 2024 in Iran, which is twice the 45 executions reported in the previous month (July).
Thus, the number of reported executions in Iran for the current year has exceeded 400, with 15 of the executed individuals being women.
It is worth noting that, according to reports compiled by the Human Rights Group Balochistan, at least 30 Baloch citizens were executed in various prisons across Iran during the first six months of 2024.
