On Sunday, September 1, 2024, the execution of a Baloch prisoner named Parviz Mirbaluchzehi (Narouei) was carried out in Kahnuj prison. Parviz, 46 years old, was married with three children, and originally from Dehpabid and a resident of Zahedan. He had been arrested earlier on drug-related charges and sentenced to death in 2021.
On Friday, August 30, 2024, Parviz was transferred to solitary confinement in preparation for his execution, and on Saturday, August 31, 2024, he had his final meeting with his family. His execution had been postponed for a year due to a stroke that left him partially paralyzed.
It is important to note that in 2023, at least 184 Baloch prisoners were executed across 26 different cities in Iran. Of these, 54 executions took place in Zahedan prison and 31 in Birjand prison. Additionally, at least four women were among those executed.
