On Wednesday, August 21, 2023, a blatant violation of human rights occurred in Khash County. Anti-Narcotics Task Force personnel, during the pursuit of a vehicle in the village of Tohidabad, illegally and without observing humane protocols, opened fire. This violent action resulted in a bullet striking a fruit vendor who was peacefully working by the roadside.
🔴 The identity of this Baloch citizen has been revealed as “Tahir Jamalzahi,” approximately 50 years old, married, and the father of several children. He lost his life after being shot in the chest.
🔴 The military forces fired in an area where the road passes through the village of Tohidabad, and the marketplace of this town is located in the same place. This irresponsible act not only took the life of an innocent person but also caused fear and panic among the citizens. Following the protests by the villagers against this human rights violation, Lieutenant Naderi, the commander of the operation, threatened to arrest them.
🔴 Tahir Jamalzahi had been selling fruit with his pickup truck in this area for over 10 years and was the breadwinner and head of two families.
🔴 According to credible reports, in 2023, illegal and direct shootings by military forces have resulted in the death or injury of at least 120 Baloch citizens. Among them, 80 people have lost their lives and 40 have been injured. The victims include 9 children and 3 women. These alarming statistics indicate the repeated violation of human rights in the region.
