According to the Balochistan Human Rights Group, on the morning of Wednesday, August 14, 2024, officials from the Housing Foundation along with military and plainclothes security forces attacked the “Manzel Ab” area and the nomadic township of “Shahmoradabad” in Zahedan County, demolishing at least thirty residential houses.

Details of the Raid and Demolition

According to the report, around 2:00 AM, approximately twenty military vehicles accompanied by ten private and organizationally plated cars raided the area. After evacuating the residents, they used bulldozers and tools such as sledgehammers and pickaxes to demolish the houses. This demolition continued until 5:00 AM.

Reactions and Consequences

The demolition forces did not even spare the trees in the yards. One homeowner, who confronted the forces about cutting down trees, was threatened with arrest by the military personnel.

Similar Demolitions in 2023

Throughout 2023, Iranian security and government forces conducted 21 demolitions in at least five cities in Baloch-populated areas, involving the destruction of homes and land seizures. The majority of these actions occurred in Chabahar with eight cases and Zahedan with seven cases.
