At dawn on Wednesday, August 14, 2024, the execution of two Baloch and Kurdish prisoners took place in Sabzevar Central Prison. These two prisoners had been sentenced to death on drug-related charges and were transferred to solitary confinement on Monday, August 12, for the execution of their sentences.
The identities of the executed prisoners are as follows:
- Mousa Al-Reza Ebrahimi, 24 years old, from Zahedan and residing in Sabzevar
- Reza Zardkouhi, 31 years old, married with one child, from the village of Zardkouhi in Davarzan County, Razavi Khorasan Province
These two prisoners were arrested in Sabzevar on drug charges about three years ago and were sentenced to death.
According to reports, at least 184 Baloch prisoners were executed in 26 different cities in Iran in 2023, with the highest number of executions occurring in the prisons of Zahedan and Birjand. Among these prisoners, at least four were women
