At dawn on Tuesday, August 13, 2024, the execution of “Farajollah Khashi (Jamalzehi),” a 47-year-old father of six, was carried out in Kerman prison. In 2022, Farajollah had traveled to Kerman for spinal treatment and was arrested on charges of drug trafficking, despite being unaware of the drugs in the vehicle.
This execution took place despite his death sentence being reduced by two degrees and his case being under review by the Clemency and Pardon Commission of Kerman province. His family was only allowed a few minutes of cabin visitation with him.
In 2023, at least 184 Baloch prisoners have been executed on various charges across Iran, with 54 executions in Zahedan and 31 in Birjand. These executions are a blatant violation of human rights and minority rights. We demand an end to these inhumane practices.
