According to the Balochistan Human Rights Group, on Wednesday, August 7, 2024, at least two citizens from the village of Ganjak were shot and injured following a high-speed chase of several fuel carrier vehicles and an attack by security forces on the villages of Ganjak and Kalendani in Zarrabad County.
Identities of the Injured Citizens
Shahbakhsh Dehashti, 42 years old, son of Noormohammad.
Mahmoud Jangani, approximately 50 years old, son of Gholam Mohammad.
The report states that security forces, after illegally leaving their jurisdiction in Jask County, opened fire on citizens who were preventing the arrest of several fuel carriers. As a result, two residents of Ganjak village in Zarrabad County were injured.
The injured citizens were transferred to Khatam al-Anbia Hospital in Jask and are currently receiving medical treatment.
Annual Statistics on Fuel Carriers
It is worth noting that according to the annual collected report, in 2023, at least 321 fuel carriers were killed or injured due to direct shootings by security forces, road accidents, shootings by unknown armed individuals, floods, and fires.
This incident highlights the ongoing dangers faced by fuel carriers and the severe impact of security force actions on local communities. The international community and human rights organizations must address these issues and work towards ensuring the safety and rights of affected individuals.
