According to the Balochistan Human Rights Group, on the morning of Wednesday, July 31, 2024, the death sentence of a Baloch prisoner named Fazl-Ahmad Fateh-Nia (Zarkzehi) was carried out in Zahedan Central Prison.

Fazl-Ahmad Fateh-Nia, 30 years old, a father of three children from Zahak, was arrested by military forces in 2022 for the alleged murder of his father. He was initially transferred to Zabol Prison and sentenced to death by the Zabol Criminal Court. About a week before the execution, he was transferred from Zabol Prison to Zahedan Central Prison. The day before the execution, he was moved to solitary confinement and allowed a final meeting with his family.

According to this report, at least 184 Baloch prisoners were executed in 26 different cities in Iran in 2023 for various charges, with Zahedan and Birjand prisons having the highest numbers at 54 and 31 executions respectively. Among these prisoners, at least four were women.
