According to the Balochistan Human Rights Group on the morning of Saturday, July 13, 2024, municipal officers and military forces raided the Keshavarz area in the city of Zahedan and began demolishing the homes of Baloch citizens.
Municipal officers, accompanied by dozens of military personnel, stormed the 30-meter street in the Keshavarz area, forcibly evacuating residents. Subsequently, bulldozers and other heavy machinery were used to demolish the homes of Baloch citizens. This action was carried out without a court order and without presenting any legal authorization.
Reports indicate that throughout 2023, various security and government agencies of the Islamic Republic of Iran have demolished homes and seized land from people in at least 21 instances across five cities in Baloch-populated areas. The majority of these incidents occurred in Chabahar, with eight cases, and in Zahedan, with seven cases.
The demolition of Baloch citizens’ homes without a court order or the homeowners’ consent is a blatant violation of human rights and international law. These actions have led to significant hardships for the affected families, including homelessness and loss of property.
