According to the Balochistan Human Rights Group, on Friday, June 14, 2024, Abdulrauf Barani, a former political prisoner, was arrested along with seven other citizens in Iranshahr by military forces without a judicial warrant and transferred to the Iranshahr Intelligence Detention Center. Abdulrauf, 34 years old, married with two children, is from the village of Nourabad in Sarbaz. He and seven others had gone to Iranshahr for personal business when they were detained. On Sunday, June 16, 2024, IRGC intelligence forces transferred Abdulrauf to the Zahedan Intelligence Detention Center. Four of his companions have been released, while three remain in detention. Authorities have not provided a clear reason for the arrest and transfer to Zahedan despite the family’s inquiries. Abdulrauf was previously arrested in 2020 on political charges and was released a few months later. The current charges against these individuals are still unknown.
