According to the Balochistan Human Rights Group, on the morning of Saturday, June 15, 2024, a Baloch child drowned and lost her life after falling into a hotag in the village of “Kuh Dim,” located in the Pirsarhab district of Dashtiari County.
The identity of the Baloch child has been reported as “Helina Jadgal,” daughter of Mansour, and a resident of the village of Banaro Ghulam Mohammad Bazaar, located in the Pirsarhab district of Dashtiari County.
A hotag refers to a water pit that is either naturally occurring or man-made, where people use the collected rainwater.
Many areas, such as Dashtiari and Konarak, lack access to proper water supply networks and pipelines, forcing residents to rely on water collected in hotags for their daily needs.
