On Monday, June 3, 2024, Mohammad Khakzehi, a fuel carrier from Shamsabad village in Saravan County, was involved in an incident following a direct shooting by Mersad military forces, which led to his vehicle overturning and catching fire. After being transferred to Razi Hospital in Saravan, he succumbed to severe burn injuries.

At around 3:30 PM, without prior warning, Mersad forces opened fire on fuel carriers’ vehicles in Shamsabad village.

According to reports, in 2023, at least 321 fuel carriers were killed or injured due to shootings by military forces, road accidents, and other factors.
