According to the Balochistan Human Rights Group, on Tuesday, May 28, 2024, IRGC forces opened fire directly and without warning on Baloch fuel carriers from Mashkel, eastern Balochistan, in the border areas of Jodr and Kalagan, Saravan County. The attack resulted in the deaths of at least four fuel carriers, injuries to four others, and the disappearance of four more.
The identities of the four killed fuel carriers have been confirmed as “Abdulwasi Rigi,” 18 years old, son of Mullah Suleiman, “Shakarullah Regi,” 23 years old, “Khwasti Rigi,” and “Asghar Sasoli,” 22 years old, son of Mohammad Akbar, all from Mashkel, eastern Balochistan.
One of the injured fuel carriers has been identified as “Abdullah Rigi,” son of Mullah Suleiman. Abdullah and another unidentified fuel carrier were arrested by IRGC forces and taken to Saravan, while two other injured fuel carriers were transferred to a hospital in Mashkel.
The identities of the injured fuel carriers transferred to Mashkel and the status and fate of the four other fuel carriers present at the scene of the shooting remain unknown at the time of reporting.
It is reported that on Tuesday, Baloch fuel carriers were waiting in the border area of Jodr and Kalagan, Saravan, for other fuel carriers to bring fuel from across the border when IRGC forces suddenly opened fire on them without prior warning. This incident resulted in at least eight casualties, including those killed and injured, and the disappearance of four others.
It should be noted that, according to an annual report, in 2023, at least 321 fuel carriers were killed or injured due to direct shootings by military forces, road accidents, shootings by unknown armed individuals, floods, and fires.
