In a session held at the United Nations assembly in Geneva on March 18, 2024, Monireh Shirani, from Balochistan human rights group , highlighted the ongoing atrocities against the Baloch people.

She shed light on crimes documented by the Fact-Finding Mission (FFM), including the infamous “Bloody Friday” on September 30, 2022.

Shirani emphasized the long history of persecution, systematic discrimination, and neglect faced by the Baloch community, as well as the disproportionate state-sponsored violence against them. She also pointed out the overrepresentation of Baloch and Kurds in execution statistics and condemned the use of military courts for political purposes.

Shirani urged the international community to pay attention to cases like Sephr Shirani’s, which exemplify enforced disappearances and the lack of accountability within the Islamic Republic of Iran.
