According to the report by the Balochistan Human Rights Group, today thursday, February 29, 2024, the situation in the Dashtiyari region has become critical due to continuous heavy rainfall, exacerbated by officials’ neglect of flood management. Many villages are either submerged or besieged by floods. Over the past four days, communication to some villages has been cut off, transportation routes have been completely destroyed, and citizens, including children, are facing critical conditions without food and basic necessities. Furthermore, due to ongoing rainfall, upstream dams and reservoirs in the Dashtiyari region have overflowed, causing floods to move towards the area, potentially repeating the disaster of 2020. Additionally, the main transportation route to the central city of Negour, along with areas along the transit and Noubandian highway, has been blocked due to river overflow. Hundreds of villages in Dashtiyari are surrounded by floods, resulting in the destruction of many residential homes and loss of livestock.
