According to the Balochistan Human Rights Group, in the early hours of , December 27, 2023, a Baloch prisoner who had been transferred to the quarantine section of Birjand prison yesterday has been executed on drug-related charges.

The identified prisoner, named Ismaeil Ghader Magham (Brahui), 23 years old, son of Saeed Mohammad, from Zahedan and a resident of Birjand, was executed. Reports indicate Ismaeil was arrested in 2019 on drug-related charges and sentenced to death by the Iranian Revolutionary Court in Birjand.

It’s worth noting that Ismaeil’s family, seeking a visit with their son before the execution, visited Birjand prison following a contact with one of his cellmates. Unfortunately, the prison authorities denied them the chance to meet their son before the execution, and he was executed without their final visit.
