On Monday October 9, 2023, a session of the Human Rights Committee was held in Geneva, with the participation of representatives from various human rights organizations, including the “Balochistan Human Rights Group.”

In this session, Ms. Sabah Bandoui, as the sole representative of Baloch human rights organizations, addressed violations of human rights in Balochistan by the Islamic Republic, the conditions of individuals without identification documents, and the situation of political prisoners, including “Benyamin Kohkan,” a child detained on unfounded charges by security forces in Zahedan.

It should be noted that in this session, in addition to assistance of Javid Rahman, the special rapporteur on human rights for the United Nations , and representatives from the Islamic Republic of Iran, approximately thirty human rights activists from within Iran also attended.

Following the presentation of reports on human rights violations by representatives of independent human rights organizations, members of the Islamic Republic’s team responded to the committee’s questions. However, the committee experts did not find the explanations provided by the representatives of the Islamic Republic acceptable or convincing.
