On July 25th, 2023, according to the Balochistan Human Rights Group, Abdulwahid Shohlibor, a 38-year-old resident of Zahedan, and a key member of the security forces at the Makki Mosque, was released after a month of detention. He had been summoned to the public and revolutionary court in Zahedan on June 3, 2023, and subsequently arrested and taken to an undisclosed location.

Abdulwahid Shahlibor’s release came amid allegations by human rights activists that his detention was part of a retaliatory action against the Makki Mosque security forces. It is believed that the detention was in response to the failure of a planned biological attack on Molavi Abdulhamid, allegedly orchestrated by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) intelligence.
