According to Balochistan human rights group Single Woman’s Home Demolished by Military Forces and Municipality in Chabahar
Chabahar, Iran – In a distressing incident, on July 21, 2023, officials from Chabahar municipality, in conjunction with military forces, carried out the demolition of a widow’s home in the Haft Abad neighborhood of Chabahar. The widow, who was left to care for several orphaned children, tragically lost her only property in the heart-wrenching incident.
Approximately 30 military personnel, accompanied by municipal officers, were involved in the destruction of the widow’s home, leaving her and her orphaned children without a place to call their own.
This incident sheds light on a disturbing trend in the region, where multiple reports and documented evidence have emerged about the demolition of residential homes belonging to indigenous Baloch people, particularly in Chabahar. Allegedly driven by political and security motives, government and military forces’ actions have led to severe hardships for the residents and rightful owners of these areas.
The international community must take note of these grave human rights violations and demand accountability and justice for the affected individuals and families. Such acts of demolition and displacement have far-reaching consequences, causing immense suffering to innocent civilians. Solidarity and support for the victims are crucial in upholding human rights and preserving the dignity of all individuals, regardless of their background or circumstances.
