According to the Balochistan Human Rights Group, Farhad Hashemzehi, a 29-year-old son of Alireza, was gravely injured yesterday, July 8th, 2023, as a result of military gunfire near Police Station 16 in Zahedan.
Sources report that at 7:50 am, Farhad was leaving his residence to commute to work when he was struck by bullets fired by military forces positioned in the surrounding hills and buildings near Police Station 16. He suffered significant injuries to his hip and bladder due to the gunshots inflicted by military personnel.
Currently, Farhad is undergoing surgical procedures and receiving medical treatment at Khatam Hospital in Zahedan.
In a parallel incident, two other Baloch civilians were also injured when military forces opened fire on buildings near Mehr 5 Street.
It is imperative to highlight that on the same day, a group of four armed individuals affiliated with the Jaish al-Adl group launched an attack on Police Station 16 in Zahedan. The assailants briefly gained control of the military base for approximately six hours, resulting in the loss of their lives as well as several military personnel.
This distressing event renews concerns about the overall security situation in Zahedan. It is crucial to recall that Police Station 16 is situated in close proximity to Zahedan’s central mosque, where a tragic incident unfolded on a fateful Friday, claiming the lives of over a hundred individuals and leaving hundreds more injured as military and security forces opened fire on worshippers.
This recent incident underscores the urgent need for addressing human rights violations and ensuring the safety and well-being of all citizens.
