According to Balochistan Human Rights Group, at dawn today, December 24th , 2022, the death sentence of a Baloch prisoner was executed in Pahra prison (Iranshahr) for murder charges.
The identity of this prisoner, “Nizamuddin Burhanzahi”, 31 years old, son of Mohammad from Sorap village, has been confirmed.
It is said that Nizamuddin was arrested in 2018 for the murder of a soldier in the city of Kalat and was sentenced to death by the Pahra Criminal Court.
According to this report, Nizamuddin was transferred to the solitary cell of Pahra Prison on December 23rd , and his death sentence was executed this morning.
It should be noted that at the same time as nationwide protests in the country during the last 120 days from August 14, 2022 to December 24th , 2022, 85 Baloch citizens have been executed in various prisons of the country, which is the number of people who have been authenticated, which is the concern of human rights activists and organizations.
According to the Amnesty International report dated July 26th , 2022, at least 65 people, i.e. (26 percent) of those executed in 2022 belonged to the oppressed Baloch minority, a minority that constitutes about 5 percent of Iran’s population. More than half of them (38 people) have been executed for drug-related crimes.
